VenaVer Events DEVELOPS + MANAGES certified farmers markets, community markets, night markets, & pop-ups all throughout Los Angeles County.
Our team works with hospitals, universities, cities, & non-profits, creating hyper local farmers markets & community events that are free to enter, & family friendly.
All vendors at VenaVer markets are permitted by the applicable local, county, & state administrative offices, & have all applicable required insurances.
Our certified farmers are regulated by the California Department of Agriculture, which means our vendors’ produce is grown locally by small, family-farms – & the farms are inspected routinely to ensure of it.
For customers, that means all the produce you purchase at the market is sourced locally in Southern or Central California.
Our events are always free to enter, free to park, & feature only local vendors, no large regional or national companies.
Farmers markets can accept EBT, & if you use your EBT card, some markets can offer bonus Market Match bucks!

We are always looking at launching new VenaVer Markets & as a small, community-focused organization – we don’t have the staff or time to visit everywhere around L.A. County.
If you are looking to bring market vendors to a location near you, reach out and we can try to find a way to make it happen. Locations for events include condo complexes, apartments, offices, unused lots, churches, & clinics.
Our markets can vary from 2 vendors to 100.
VenaVer Events works with cities & organizations all throughout Southern California to make special events, more special.
We can handle everything like music, entertainment, or full logistics, or just the procurement of vendors & permits.
We meet with our partners to determine the most effective way to create a memorable, safe, & well attended event – while always keeping in mind the best interests of our vendors attending.
Along with annual or ad-hoc events, VenaVer Events has weekly & monthly certified farmers markets located in various locations around Los Angeles County.
Who We Are
Founders Evelin Tamayo Hernandez, MPH & Rick Kanter were originally drawn to farmers markets through work with Hunger Action Los Angeles (HALA) & the Market Match Program.
The program provides bonus dollars for fresh produce when you use your CalFresh EBT at the market.
HALA was founded by Executive Director Frank Tamborello, a highly touted food policy advocate, involved for over 30 years in efforts to combat hunger in L.A. County.
For over 15 years, HALA has worked in California to end hunger & promote healthy eating through advocacy & organizing.
HALA manages Market Match at multiple markets in Southern California, which provides vouchers for produce when you use your EBT at the market.
VenaVer Events On-Site Management
VenaVer manages the market on-site, implements the food programs, & handles the planning, marketing, & execution of the farmers markets.
Co-Founders Rick Kanter & Evelin Tamayo-Hernandez, MPH bring unique skill sets that help with market growth.
Rick Kanter – Founder & Market Director
VenaVer Founder Rick Kanter brings effective communication, strategic marketing, & a sales focus beneficial to both the market & vendors.
Rick retired in 2015 after 12 years at Scripps Networks (HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel) as Director of National Accounts.
He spent the following years doing consultant work for small businesses, while helping develop multiple brands & non-profit initiatives.
Evelin Tamayo Hernandez, MPH – Founder & Operations Director
VenaVer Founder Evelin Tamayo Hernandez, MPH began working at farmers markets in the 2000’s, while obtaining a Bachelors in Food Administration and Dietetics, & Masters Degree in Public Health from CSULB. Evelin is instrumental in several food distribution programs with our community partners.
Laser focused on community needs & helping the most vulnerable – Evelin provides the backbone for VenaVer hunger & food policy initiatives.
